Solar Technician

As a Solar Technician, you will be responsible for technical support, troubleshooting, and resolving issues reported by customers in the field regarding their home solar kits/systems (batteries, flashlights, radios, lamps, solar panels, etc.). You will train sales agents and other technicians in charge of customer installations on the operation, troubleshooting, and installation of the products. Your day-to-day work will involve managing technical after-sales service from the offices of our local partner in Ivory Coast. Your role also includes promoting access to clean energy for all by sharing your knowledge and building the skills of local teams. You will be the main point of contact for customers, assisting and advising them on how to use their solar kits/systems—either directly or via the local partner’s call center.
What you will be doing
- Diagnose solar system components, identify issues, and help resolve them.
- Act as the main technical contact for the Spark partner/distributor regarding field issues.
- Test, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems and solar equipment.
- Provide remote or on-site support to the Spark partner/distributor.
- Train and advise customers and installers on the proper use of their equipment.
- Document and prepare reports on work performed and components used.
- Assist product management teams in defining and improving the customer experience.
- Regularly train sales and technical teams to help them excel in their roles.
What you will bring
- Degree or diploma in electrical, electronic, or solar engineering with at least 2 years experience in the industry.
- Proven knowledge of electrical measurement and troubleshooting tools.
- Interest in sustainability and a willingness to learn about the benefits of renewable energy.
- Willingness to travel within Ivory Coast for regular training and technical support activities.
- Proficiency in office software and online platforms (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook/Email).
- Strong interpersonal skills and a customer service mindset. You enjoy teamwork and naturally take initiative when needed. If a customer reaches out with an issue outside of business hours, you’re happy to help solve the issue.
- Strong written and spoken English skills are a must. You’ll be working with our international support staff on a daily basis and all our communication is in English.

- Second interview with Pieke (Technical Support Manager) and one solar technician.
